CIDECT Award 2010

CIDECT Awards during the ISTS13 Conference in Hong Kong
 
The 13. International Symposium on Tubular Structures, ISTS13, took place from 15th to 17th December 2010 in Hong Kong (http://www.hku.hk/civil/ISTS13/).
As announced, CIDECT invited the winners of the preliminary competition to come out to Hong Kong, so that they could present their work there. Altogether five students from Canada, Spain, Germany and China presented their entries, three for the research prize (Research Award) and two for the architecture prize (Design Award) (one paper was withdrawn by the authors). The audience then voted on the award for the first place in each category.

Tarana Haque, from the University of Toronto, Canada, received the first prize fort he Research Award fort he work: Experimental Behaviour of Elliptical Hollow Section Welded X- and T-Joints.

The first place for the Design went to Xavier Aguilo I Aran, University of Barcelona, Spain, with the paper: Cherry Blossom Palace.
